History

FOST is an operational centre for TotalEnergies specialising in oil spill response.

The Fast Oil Spill Team can operate in maritime, coastal and river environments, both onshore and offshore, in France and around the globe.

In the event of a major spill, FOST can call in up to 30 additional BMPM firefighters as backup.

Following the alert procedure, FOST call-out is activated.

  • FOST arrives at the scene of the incident with the necessary equipment and personnel.
  • The team implements the most appropriate response strategies, techniques and equipment according to the situation.
  • It manages the incident and contains the spill as well as possible.
  • It provides advice and issues recommendations in a report subsequently submitted to the requesting entity.

  • a Spill Response HSE Assistant (in Paris)
     
  • 2 permanent Naval Firefighters + 30 naval firefighters as backup

FOST was initially based in the Marseille Provence airport zone, before setting up its head office in Rognac (Tête Noire area) in 2002.

Very quickly, thanks to its skills and experience, FOST became a key tool for training personnel and providing different oil spill response services both internally and for third parties (industry, administrations, etc.).

Since late 2021, FOST has been based in Vitrolles, in the Anjoly Zone, near the Marseille Provence airport.
