The Fast Oil Spill Team can operate in maritime, coastal and river environments, both onshore and offshore, in France and around the globe.
In the event of a major spill, FOST can call in up to 30 additional BMPM firefighters as backup.

Following the alert procedure, FOST call-out is activated.
- FOST arrives at the scene of the incident with the necessary equipment and personnel.
- The team implements the most appropriate response strategies, techniques and equipment according to the situation.
- It manages the incident and contains the spill as well as possible.
- It provides advice and issues recommendations in a report subsequently submitted to the requesting entity.
