This decommissioned tank was transferred to FOST free of charge after validation by the LOG/Support group. This new tool will supplement the MS training provided by FOST with the addition of a module on "Response to tank containers”.
This tank is a former BMPM foam tank with a capacity of 2 x 3,000 litres (2 compartments).
It comprises:
- Valves supplied by a distribution manifold tapped into the tank.
- An equipment storage locker.
- Two manholes.
- A removable ramp.
- A platform for road haulage.
This new tool will supplement the MS training with the addition of a module on response to tank containers.
Tool design:
For training purposes, the tanker module will of course be modified to meet the needs of the course:
- A system for creating a breach at the rear of the tank.
- A system for creating a lateral breach in the lower part of the front compartment.
- A system for creating a lateral breach in the central part of the rear compartment.
- A system for creating a breach on the manifold.
- A system for creating a leak in the flange.
- A system for creating a leak in the manhole.
A study is currently being carried out by the FOST team to draw up the specifications for the modifications to be made. The idea is for the tank to be able to tip in both directions at an angle of 60° to the vertical axis. The entire module will be repainted in FOST’s colour.
The aim of this training tool is:
To be able to implement the necessary response and safety techniques to plug, contain and restrict the flow of a leak from the tank or one of its peripheral components.
