OMI level 1 training course in Vitrolles
March 2026: IMO level 1 training course
Each year, FOST organises training courses at its center in Vitrolles.
This year, the first session of the IMO level 1 training course was held from 23/03 to 27/03/2026. It was attended by a group of 10 participants from TotalEnergies operational facilities (Donges refinery, La Mede complex and Gennevilliers oil depot).
The course comprised both classroom-based theory lessons and practical execises during which the trainees had to devise and organise a strategy to respond to oil spills in the aquatic environment.
Due to the weather conditions (strong winds) during this March session, the training programme and on-site exercises had to be amended.
The deployment of an unmanned surface vehicule (USV) in Berre l'Etang harbour met with great success.
