RCH3 Training Course

 

December 2025 : RCH3 Training Course

The RCH3 chemical hazards training course run by ECASC (Ecole d’Application de la Sécurité Civile) for fire officers from various fire and rescue services in France and Monaco included a day of spill response training on 17 December 2025. 

This training session was led by personnel from the Technological Risks Specialised Operational Unit (SOS RT) of the Marseille Naval Fire Battalion (BMPM) and from FOST. 

To carry out the practical exercises, a fire engine with crew, a technological risk vehicle with crew and a BMPM Technological Risks group leader were available for the trainees.

 

Training day agenda:

  • Coffee and welcome
  • Split into two groups; groups swap over for morning and afternoon sessions (6 trainees per group)

 

Programme: under the orders of FOST (one morning session and one afternoon session)

  • Presentation of FOST
  • Spill response background and regulations and the different spill response stakeholders
  • Presentation of the showroom
  • Presentation of a dynamic spill response operation
  • Feedback

 

Programme: under the orders of RCH3 training team for practical exercises

Morning session:

  • Diesel leak from a pipeline module
  • Gaseous chemical leak from a tank module
  • Kerosene leak from a pipeline module

Afternoon session:

  • Gaseous chemical leak from a tank module
  • Kerosene leak from a pipeline module
  • Liquid chemical leak from a pipeline module

 

The training course ran very smoothly, all the training modules were covered and the format for this one-day session was validated by all present. All the trainees and trainers were satisfied. BMPM and FOST plan to repeat this training session as well as to develop follow-up in order to maintain the knowledge and experience of SOS RT BMPM personnel using the modules available at FOST’s technical facilities.
