Technical Assistance in Mayotte

March 2025: MAYOTTE

A Technical Assistance mission was carried out for the TotalEnergies subsidiary in Mayotte.

The aims were:

  • To check and receive the spill response equipment sent by FOST from Vitrolles after having provided an advisory and procurement service for this equipment for the subsidiary,
  • To divide the equipment into batches to be posted at the different sites on Grande-Terre and Petite-Terre,
  • To present the equipment and familiarise the on-site teams with its use.

A major exercise was organised with a wide range of stakeholders, ship’s captain, Crisis Management Cell (CMC), etc., as well as the company STMM, coasting pilots, etc.) and observers (TotalEnergies, POLMAR maritime pollution specialists, harbour master's office, CMACGM).

FOST provided assistance at the beginning of the exercise, before switching to observer status.

A well organised operational response, good communication and clearly defined objectives contributed to the success of this exercise!

FOST pursued its mission by delivering an on-site IMO level 1 training course for 21 participants, as well as a specific training module for drivers on “responding to an oil spill from a tank truck” for 12 participants.
